foreverla:

The Lakers win against the Denver Nuggets in Game 3 marked the last game to be aired on public channel, KCAL 9. This marks the end of a 35 year long relationship. I and I am sure many Laker fans are sad to see it go. Next season, Laker games other than those on exclusive broadcasts (ABC or TNT) will be aired strictly on cable, Time Warner Cable to be exact. The Lakers signed a new 20 year agreement just last year worth $20 billion and will now have their own regional sports network as a result of it.

KCAL 9 has provided us so many gems from access to the Lakers for those with no cable to the likes of this video posted above of Brian McKnight’s rendition of “I Love LA,” which was played before many Laker games on TV in seasons past. All good things must come to an end and tonight proved to be no different.

Thanks KCAL9 for everything.
